Now new: Bio PE

The polymer, which makes up 75% of the recipe, is ISCC-certified and therefore verifiably sustainable. Solid and liquid recyclates are obtained from the production surplus, which are fed back into the production cycle. In terms of quality, both organic materials are in no way inferior to standard products.

Made from sustainable raw materials

As a specialist in the production and processing of cellular rubber, polyethylene foam and foam rubber, KÖPP is committed to the topic of sustainability. "As a manufacturer, we are constantly working on making our products more environmentally friendly," says Axel Wynands, Sales and Marketing Manager at KÖPP. First visible success in 2021: A bio EPDM based on a bio oil. A bio PE has also been available since the end of 2022, in which the proportion of sustainable raw materials is currently around 75 percent. In both organic qualities, the base polymers and a large part of the filler have been replaced with sustainable solutions.

Closed production cycle

At KÖPP, both solid and liquid recyclate is obtained from the entire production surplus. While a small percentage of solid recyclate is added to the formulation of the bio-materials, the liquid recyclate is used in the manufacture of the ISCC-certified polymer. It also flows back into the production cycle, which is therefore 100 percent closed.

Best quality, good availability

The materials, which are largely made from sustainable raw materials, are also convincing in terms of quality. “The organic qualities are indistinguishable from our standard products in terms of appearance, feel and use. The material parameters are absolutely equivalent, since we don't just add solid recyclate to the recipe, as is usually the case in the industry. This lowers the manufacturing costs, but you have to put up with significantly poorer mechanical characteristics,” confirms Axel Wynands. Since KÖPP consistently follows a philosophy of large warehousing, delivery security is given even in the current difficult raw material situation. In times when the overall ecological balance is becoming more and more important, KÖPP offers its customers, including those in the automotive and packaging industries, interesting alternatives to conventional products with semi-finished products made from organic PE and organic EPDM.
