New in the range: PE filling foams as a sustainable packaging solution

KÖPP now processes production surpluses from the production of polyethylene foam into sustainable packaging material in its own factories. An asset deal with Arnold GmbH made this possible: KÖPP took over their machines and know-how for producing polyethylene strips and chipped foam and thereby not only expanded its portfolio, but also the production cycle is 100% closed.

KÖPP and Arnold agree on asset deal

We, the Aachen specialists for the production of cellular rubber, polyethylene foam and foam rubber and Arnold GmbH, based in Zornheim, which specializes in the upcycling of production surpluses from polyethylene production, have known each other for many years. “We didn’t have to think twice when the opportunity arose to take over Arnold’s production facilities for the production of fillers made of PE,” explain managing director Achim Raab and sales manager Axel Wynands. In keeping with the “Hand-in-Hand with Nature” project, 100% of production surpluses are now fed into our own production cycle. KÖPP is also expanding its portfolio for the packaging industry with high-quality and sustainable fillers that ensure the safe protection of sensitive goods.

PE filling foams provide safe and environmentally friendly protection

The basis for the production of the PE strips and chips are process surpluses from polyethylene block foam manufacturing and fabrication. The material combines properties that make it an ideal packaging solution. The fine-pored, closed-cell foam is free of harmful substances and is therefore even suitable for use in the food industry. It acts like a permanently elastic air cushion and ensures that neither shocks nor vibrations are transmitted to the goods during transport. The filler does not absorb water and therefore prevents rust from forming. In addition, it can easily be used multiple times. The economical use of materials also makes it particularly environmentally friendly.

A good solution for Arnold, KÖPP and customers

“We are convinced of our products and are very happy that we have found a partner in KÖPP who will offer our sustainable filling foams in the usual quality in the future and deliver them reliably to our extensive customer base,” says Managing Director Dipl.-Ing. Sabine Schneider on closing the business for personal reasons. Arnold GmbH was founded by Sabine’s father in 1969. As a successful family business, the company has been managed by Sabine Schneider in the second generation.
