- Old business house of the thirties
Wilhelm Köpp Zellkautschuk (WKZ) has
a long, illustrious history as a leading manufacturer and processor of cellular rubber, sponge rubber and polyethylene foam. Our product portfolio now also includes moulded parts and foam plastics of various types.
At the end of the nineteen thirties, company founder Wilhelm Köpp opened a business in Aachen, Germany selling cellular rubber and sponge rubber. The company grew quickly and soon started manufacturing and processing these materials, too.
The company continued to expand and in 1963 moved into its own, much larger premises. Another highlight in company development was the founding in 1965 of Köpp-Filtertechnik - Filter Technology.
Other milestones in company history include: 1968 Köpp becomes official distributor for PE foams manufactured by UK company BXL Ltd. (today known as Zotefoams); 1971 Köpp starts sponge rubber production at its Bovenden production facility near Göttingen, Germany. A year later, in 1972 Köpp
founded the Schaumelastomer (Foam Elastomers) company in Berlin and
also started production of its own brand cellular rubber.
2001 saw the opening of a new chapter in company history: the start of production of innovative Formed In Place Foam Gaskets (FIPFG) at the Bovenden production facility. Halfway through 2006
the company expanded its manufacturing activities in soft rubber
components thus marking another major milestone in the company's
continued success.
Today, Wilhelm Köpp Zellkautschuk has two sites in Germany, 200 employees and numerous production partners throughout Europe. Wilhelm Köpp Zellkautschuk has business contacts and customers world-wide. The company is now managed by the next generation of the founder's family.
Tradition, experience and innovation will continue to provide the foundation for the continued success of the Wilhelm Köpp Zellkautschuk name into the 21st century.

1968 Official distributor of PE foams for BXL Ltd. (UK) (now Zotefoams)
1971 Start of sponge rubber production at the Bovenden (Germany) production facility.
1972 Start of cellular rubber production
2001 Start of FIPFG product lines. Wilhelm Köpp becomes a system supplier.
2006 Expansion of manufacturing activities for soft rubber mouldings.
